Some definitions as provided in the Surrogacy Bill 2018

The Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2018 was recently passed by the Lok Sabha. The proposed Bill has defined various terms in relation to surrogacy for reference.

Here are some definitions as included in the Surrogacy Bill 2018.

(a) "abandoned child" means a child born out of surrogacy procedure, deserted by his intended parents or guardians and who has been declared as abandoned by the appropriate authority after due enquiry....read more

New ASH guidelines on management of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) has released a new guideline on the diagnosis and management of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), published online Nov. 27, 2018 in the journal Blood Advances.

The guideline covers various aspects of the condition including screening of asymptomatic patients for HIT, diagnosis and initial management of patients with suspected HIT, treatment of acute HIT. Women's health is a largely neglected subject in Indian families

New Delhi, 24th December 2018: The National Family Health Survey (NFHS-4) 2015/16 shows that less than two-thirds (63%) of married women have any say in their own health care or other household decisions. And 30% of women experienced physical violence since the age of 15. Further, 33% of married women experienced physical violence, 14% sexual violence and 7% spousal sexual violence. Given that about 59 crore of India’s population is composed of women, there is a need to empower them in terms of access to basic health rights.
